Kippies

From 1986, Kippies International Jazz Club, named after legendary saxophonist Kippie Moeketsi, was one of Johannesburg's most famous jazz venues. The design was based on the Edwardian public toilet nearby. The club was closed in 2005 due to structural problems. In 2009, restoration commenced and a statue of Kippie Moeketsi was unveiled.
